I guess it had to happen sooner or later. As the title of the post says, this is the first Friday of the diet where I weighed more than the previous week. Oh well… Let’s do this thing…
Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight: 193.1
Current BMI: 27.04
Weight loss from start: -40.6 lbs.
Progress: Clearly last week’s hopeful prediction of making this the week to hit 190, was off. There’s clear reasons why I failed this week. Of highest note was eating out two nights in a row. It’s just too hard to stick to the diet when you’re out with friends at places like China Fun and Gus and Gabriel’s Gastropub. And another factor was bad timing every night leading to only 1 or 2 gym stops.
At least the gain was not so significant as to negate a lot of progress. Last Friday I was at 192.7 meaning I’ve only gained 0.4 lbs from last week. I did get as low as 192, but didn’t break it, so its also not like I got down to 190 then came back up. Overall I’m not surprised or really that upset about it. I’ll just make the effort to curb it this new week and try to jump start it again.
I debated going back to phase 1 for the week, but think I’m just going to focus on phase 2 eating but really making sure I don’t bend the rules at all.
On a positive note I have ridden my bike to and from work the past few days and am excited to keep that up. We will be putting our gym membership on hold once the weather is really nice enough to be able to work out outside.


February 2010, at least for me, went by very quickly. Arguably it has a few less days than all the other months, but I’m still talking fast. The winter Olympics came and went, LOST season six started and has progressed nicely, and I have lost a lot more weight and finished a book. Wrap-up time!
