Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 9/8/10 – 2 Months off

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Hello comic faithful. Clearly The Wednesday Comics picks has been shelved for a bit. Last post was 6/30 so we’ll just say that I took July and August off…

The reality is that I’ve been very busy getting my new business up and running. This means that both the hobby of blogging here and the hobby of reading the comics, have been pushed aside to allow for that work.

The good news is however, this post is here today and technically a day early since new comics come out Thursday this week due to Labor Day. And I am working on some ideas for some exciting new posts coming up. I am hoping to start interviewing some up-and-coming comic artists about their careers and ambitions. If that works out, maybe even some people already working in the comics world.

With that in mind, if you or someone you know is a promising comic artist or writer even, contact me about setting up an interview (you can find my contact info here). I’d like to showcase their art or a bit of their writing and discuss all things comics with them.

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 6/30/10 – Wonder Woman

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

New Wonder Woman CostumeYep, a day late again, but it’s all good. Because yesterday was Wednesday and that means you probably already have new comics!

If I mentioned last week that I had nothing to say then went on to talk about DC’s launch of their mobile platforms, then I really have nothing to say this week…

So I’ll talk about Wonder Woman! Even better, I’m going to mention an article from FOX  News I found while researching this post. Exciting, huh?

First of all if you haven’t heard, for her 600th issue Wonder Woman has dropped her somewhat iconic “Stars and Stripes” costume that she’s worn for the better part of 70 years in favor of the outfit in the image above/right. I say the better part because there was a point in the sixties where someone decided to strip her of all her powers and reboot her as more of a Lara Croft girl power character. But let’s not discuss that…

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 6/23/10

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

It’s that time again! Wednesday! Let’s get right into it…

Well, this post is going to be a short one today because I actually don’t really have any specific topics to discuss. Big pull list today which is always good. Of course it also means I’ll have a lot of reading to do.

One item of interest is that DC has finally launched it’s mobile platform for distributing comics. Partnered with Comixology (where I do all my pull lists) and Playstation Network, you will now be able to download your favorite DC comics and take them with you on the go.

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 6/10/10 – Y: The Last Man

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Oh, hello blog! How are you? Yea, I know it’s been a while, but I wasn’t trying to neglect you. Really! Let’s just get back into the swing of things, ok? OK…

Oh, sorry about that. It’s Wednesday, and I haven’t posted in over a month. For shame! This also complicates today’s post because I wondered what I should talk about. I read several great comics or series in this time span afterall.

For one, Brightest Day and the Flash are both coming along quite nicely. I also read Final Crisis… what an astonishing disappointment that was. But the book I ultimately decided to talk about today was the phenominal series, Y: The Last Man.

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 5/5/10 – Batman W.T.F.

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

It’s another Wednesday Comics picks appearing on Thursday. I know, I’m sorry. If I have any excuse it’s because I was busy reading a book I want to talk about today, Batman R.I.P.

Batman R.I.P. to most people is old news, but I’m always in a state of playing catch-up so for me, it’s new. It’s also probably the major contributing factor to my being totally lost while reading this book. From start to finish I was so very confused. Confused about characters, their motivations, the backstory, and the significance of the events unfolding before me. It’s with that in mind that I will be writing this review with a lot more aid from the DC Wiki than the book itself. Even then, I’m sure I’m still missing some major points.
