2010 Challenge Update – March 5, 2010 – Weight Loss Friday! (kindof)

Wow this week went by fast! I can hardly believe it! Here we are again, another Friday. I welcome the weekend, but it’s been an odd week. Are you familiar with sine waves? How about roller coasters? Roller coasters everyone knows so I’ll stick with that. Sine waves will only mean something to you mathematicians or scientists out there. Google it if you like. Anyhoo….

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.

Progress:
That was my week; the roller coaster week. All ups and downs. I write today on a bittersweet note. You see above my current progress has me at 196.2 which is 37.5 lbs down from my start. Awesome right? Sadly other days in this week I was as low as 195.3, 38.4 lbs lost. Oh well.

The sad thing I am learning about my body and this diet… as long as I stick to all the rules 100%, I lose weight. The second I deviate even slightly, up it goes. Of course that makes sense, but it is also very aggravating. I know a lot of people who don’t work out a ton or do anything really, eat whatever they want and stay thinner than me. So I guess my body hates itself. No fast metabolism for me.

Was hoping this diet would speed it up so much that it could carry over on the very few days where I do cheat. The other day we had some pizza. That immediately knocked me up from that 195.3 back up to even higher than I am at in my current number. How can one meal make the difference of adding over a lb back on vs several days of loss? You have to take into account that I went to the gym both Monday and last night and did a good workout both times and having been walking to and from work again. So there’s no good reason why I wasn’t countering the weight loss either.

Eh, enough venting, I knew this was an uphill struggle from the start, but it is very frustrating. Because of the fluctuation, on the whole I only lost 1.3 lbs this week, making it the worst week to date. Of course it could have been worse; I could have gained weight. But still, it doesn’t feel great and especially after such a good week last week.
