2010 Challenge Update – February Wrap-up

February 2010, at least for me, went by very quickly. Arguably it has a few less days than all the other months, but I’m still talking fast. The winter Olympics came and went, LOST season six started and has progressed nicely, and I have lost a lot more weight and finished a book. Wrap-up time!

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight: 196.2
Current BMI: 27.47 (I think, may need adjusting)
Weight loss from start: -37.5 lbs.
Progress: While not quite reaching the sheer success that was January, February over all has been another fantastic month for my weight loss challenge. If you recall from my last monthly wrap-up post, I finished off the month at 208.6 lbs, a loss of 25.1 lbs from the start. As of yesterday, February 28th, I was at 196.2 lbs, a loss of 37.5 lbs from the start and 12.4 lbs total loss for the month. It’s just under half of what I lost in January alone, but is still a phenomenal amount as far as I’m concerned.

It has been obvious to me that the first month would tout the most loss, and if I continue the diet in the correct fashion, should slowly decrease more and more each month as I get closer to my goals. Speaking of which, I am now just 6.2 lbs away from my first goal of 190lbs, and a few posts back I announced my plans to reach a second goal of 180lbs.

For illustrative purposes, here below is my WeightBot chart for the month. You’ll notice its a smoother downward curve this time, not nearly as sharp and quick as January. And it comes with a few “bumps” for times when I gained weight back, most prominently after the Valentine’s dinner that I talked about in this post.

Challenge #4: Read more!
Progress: A few posts back I made a final write up for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The book took me quite a long time to finish; longer than I’d hoped anyway. But it felt good to finally get it out of the way. I’ve yet to fully jump into something new, but according to this challenge’s schedule I have until the end of April to finish whatever it is anyway, so I’m not worried.

Challenge #5: Blog all this crap!
Progress: I posted a total of 15 new blogs throughout the month of February. I was surprised to see the number this high since January had 18 and I felt like I had posted a lot less this month, but surprise! I guess it’s partly due to the slightly less constant, yet ever persistent weight loss updates which are now permanently housed on Fridays except for special occasions. Additionally the number is rounded up by the new weekly “Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks” and the other occasional posts like the very first “Gadget Watch“, of which there will be another shortly.

Anyway, I’m impressed with all that February had to offer both on the PeteCast and out the in the real world. Thanks to all my February readers and as always, please tell your friends and check back often. Thanks again!
