2010 Challenge Update – February 26, 2010 – Weight Loss Friday!

Another Friday and another few lbs. shed. The effects of the diet have kicked back in quite well this past week, so here’s the results…

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight: 197.5
Current BMI: 27.65
Weight loss from start: -36.2 lbs.
Progress: This marks the end of my 8th week on the South Beach Diet and this week’s results rank as the 5th best week of the bunch. Not bad at all. With a total loss of 3.6 lbs. since last Friday, I have hit milestones like dropping under 200 lbs. and 35 lbs. total lost since start. If you saw my last weight loss update, I am also planning to create a second goal of 180 once I reach 190. Especially since 190 is now only a mere 7.5 lbs away. I can’t believe how successful I’ve been in this venture so far, and I can only hope this progress keeps up.

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 2/24/10

Sorry for the late post, but it’s been a hectic Wednesday! Regardless, here are the new comics picks.

There were some books I was realy looking forward to today, but due to some unfortunate circumstances I was not able to go to the comics shop. My poor little pup, Gus, somehow got himself a stomach bug. So he had to come to work with me so I could keep an eye on him. Can’t take him across to Midtown, so this weeks picks will have to wait until next week.

It’s a shame too because the big pick of the week was Blackest Night number 7. It’s been a while since #6 came out back in December which makes the anticipation for this one, which promised some answers finally, even worse. I love this cover too, as it features the “second tier” of the New Guardians; very cool. Well, I’ll just have to wait another week, and try to remain spoiler free.

2010 Challenge Update – February 23, 2010 – 200, no more.

A quick post for a big milestone reached today!

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight: 199.3
Current BMI: 27.90
Weight loss from start: -34.4 lbs.
Progress: I wanted to make note that today, for the first time since 2006, I have finally made it back under 200lbs. At a current weight of 199.3 I am ecstatic about my progress and looking forward not only to completing my goal, but also to never breaching 200 again. I write that on a wary tone, because so many times in my life I have gone back up to weights I hoped not to reach again. But with the plan I am on now, I think I should be able to really stick to it.

2010 Challenge Update – February 19, 2010 – Weight Loss Friday!

It’s “Weight Loss Friday” today! I think it’s catchy sounding, don’t you? So long as I don’t gain anything, it may be a name that sticks.

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight: 201.1
Current BMI: 28.15
Weight loss from start: -32.6 lbs.
Progress: Like last week, this was a much slower week than previous weeks. Though my results were slightly better than last time. This week I lost a total of 2.6 lbs. As I’m told anything over 2 lbs is supposed to be very good, I am happy.

Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – Special Trades Edition

I mentioned in my earlier post that my comic book store, Midtown Comics, is having a Presidents Day week-long sale. While there are many sales all going on at once, the one I was most interested in is 40% off of all books, graphic novels, manga and most importantly for the purposes of this post, trade paperbacks.

I went over and did my weekly shopping of course for the newest issues. I picked up everything on my pull list, plus one title I was debating over.
