Pete’s Wednesday Comics Picks – 1/27/10

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Here’s a little something new I thought I’d try. I am a big comic book fan. If you visit my other blog site, Unsuper.com (which I will get off the ground one of these days),  you’ll see that I am a fan, and specifically these days, a fan of DC Comics. I’ve mentioned on here before my favorite superhero, Green Lantern. He is pitted in quite a mess right now in DC’s Blackest Night series. One that I have been collecting from the start.

Since I am blogging a lot more this year as part of my 2010 Challenges, I thought a fun little thing to drop in here every Wednesday would be my new comics pull list. For those unfamiliar, every Wednesday is new comics day. Just like every Tuesday usually brings all the new DVD, music and Video Game releases, and Fridays the new theatrical releases.

2010 Challenge Update – January 27, 2010 – Weight LOST (lol)

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Please excuse my small pun in the title, I couldn’t help myself. I have made some major progress on LOST since last update, but I am going to save that for another post so I can really dedicate some thoughts to it in the way it deserves, and likewise for what you will read below. UPDATE TIME!

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight:
211.0
Current BMI:
29.54
Weight loss from start: -22.7 lbs.
Progress: This has been one of the better weeks of the diet so far. I am feeling good, I can clearly see a difference in my body both inside and out and I am well on my way towards my initial goal. You’ll notice I’ve added “Current BMI” to my numbers above. I talked about how important it was last time, so why not toss that up there too since I’m tracking it.

Site update – Mobile Browsing Support

Monday, January 25th, 2010

In today’s world of gadgets on the go, it was inevitable that I’d make this update sooner or later. Basically, this update adds support for viewing the PeteCast blog on your touch mobile devices such as: iPhone, iPod touch, Android, or the BlackBerry Storm. You could of course view it on those already perfectly fine, but this seeks to improve that experience by giving you a specific mobile-attuned version reminiscent of iPhone apps.

The best part is you can choose to view it in this mobile format or the regular format just by clicking on the “Mobile Theme – On/Off” toggle at the bottom of the page. If you end up on the regular version of the site, you can just as easily jump back to the mobile theme by using the same toggle, again at the bottom of the page.

2010 Challenge Update – January 23, 2010 – 3 Big Milestones reached!

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

I’ve hit some major milestones in my weight loss challenge, so I’d like to boast talk about it quickly.

Challenge #2: Lose weight on the South Beach Diet.
Current weight:
213.6
Weight loss from start: -20.1 lbs.
Progress: I’ve happily crossed some major lines as of this morning. First, if you’ve been keeping up on my progress during the past few posts you are aware that I have had this odd trend occurring. Well it has happened again, 0.0 loss, 0.2 loss, and today: -1.8 lbs! That puts me at 213.6 lbs, which means I have broken my 215 milestone mark that I so desperately wanted to do, and only a day late. And it also means I have lost over 20 lbs. since I started just 23 days ago.

2010 Challenge Update – January 22, 2010

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Here it comes! The newest update of Pete’s 2010 Challenges!

Challenge #1: Watch all of LOST seasons 1-5 before the final season premieres on February 2nd, 2010.
Progress: Third season down, and started the fourth but this challenge end date is really sneaking up on me! It is now just over 11 days until LOST airs the first episode of its final 6th season, and I have just finished the first episode of the 4th season. That means I have 30 episodes to watch in 11 days! Yikes! But don’t worry, the weekend is upon us and I will hopefully knock out a large majority of it now.

To follow up on my previous “season wrap-ups”, the third season was the last of the long seasons. It stretched 23 episodes and brought in a whole new slew of questions. All out war with the others and the history of the mysterious Dharma Initiative revealed makes for a season of thickening plot. A lot of people complained about the third season. Mostly people say that the show was on some unsteady ground and was trying to find its way. Seems to be a trend with LOST. But even to me, many parts of this season just felt like filler.
